SUNDAY 8/23 GAME CANCELLED

Women's Pick-up Softball Game Sundays in Prospect Park

Keep summer alive and join us in Brooklyn's Prospect Park on Sundays at 3pm for another casual, women's softball game and wind-down your summer weekends with old and new friends. There is no fee or other cost associated with these games!

Schedule:

Pick-up Game: Sundays, 3pm
We'll try to play through August and into September as long as people are interested

When: We will begin play at 3pm on Sundays so please try to arrive as close to or before 3pm as possible. This will make it much easier to create teams and maintain continuous play.

Who: We will begin play with the first 16 women that arrive. Later arriving players will be brought into the game on a first-come, first-served basis. We always hope more women will join us so please share this announcement with members of any teams you play on, former teammates and anyone else you know who has moderate softball experience and might like to play in a casual, women's game.

What: We play modified fastpitch -- not-high arc/slow and not fastpitch, with up to 10 players to a side. The game will be casual and all women and all skill-levels are welcome. We really won't be taking the time to teach but begginners are welcome to try the sport out and see if they like it.

Where: We'll try to grab a vacant field in advance so first look for us on one of the ballfields in Prospect Park's Long Meadow - probably Field 1, 4, 5 or 7 but look for us on the other fields too. We will meet NEAR the ballfields along the path leading in from the entrance at 9th street and PPW if we can't get a field.

What to bring: A fielding glove and appropriate footwear -- cleats are great if you have 'em but not required. There are usually a few bats to choose from but bring your own if you have one you really like.

Directions: Take the F train to the Seventh Avenue station and enter the park at Prospect Park West (PPW) & 9th Street or the F train to the 15th Street/Prospect Park Station and enter the park at Bartel-Pritchard Square. Follow the paths straight into the Park, cross West Drive, and you will see the baseball/softball diamonds in from of you. If you don't have access to the F train, take the 2 or 3 trains to Grand Army Plaza and walk along PPW or enter the Park at the Plaza and walk along the Long Meadow until you see us playing! The B68, B69 and B75 buses will also get you to the park. Can't find us? Just look for the tall redhead -- and the group of 15 to 20 women.

Weather: We will play as long as it isn't actually raining here in the Park vicinity. I will send an email out to those who have RSVP'd if play is canceled due to poor weather or field conditions but you are welcome to call me or send me a text message on Sunday if you have any doubt about whether or not we will try to play. I don't actually carry my cellphone when I am warming up or playing so you probably won't reach me after about 2:30pm or so.

Looking forward,
